PlaystationPortable.de: First of all can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about K2, who is behind the project and what projects you have worked on before?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: Our company was established in September 2000 and has been developing the video games, mainly Tenchu series, regardless of which platform they were on.
Mr. Fujii is a game director.

PlaystationPortable.de: For everybody who doesn’t know Valhalla Knights, could you give a description what the game is all about? (Story, characters, etc.)

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: We have concentrated especially the development of exploring dungeons and training the characters. You can expand this world and get many kinds of items by exploring, beating the enemies, finding rare items, levelling the skills up. (We have not given any characters the particular setting so that the player can image the player character easily.)
Experience battle of the real-time action, and you will find a very exciting RPG world.

PlaystationPortable.de: Veteran RPG maker Yoshifumi Hashimoto is serving as producer for the project, what positive influence or ideas did he bring along?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: He understands what we want to do and gave me a freedom in developing.

PlaystationPortable.de: In addition to the story, the fighting and magic system of a RPG is very important. Can you tell us more about these features in Valhalla Knights?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: As well as most of the RPG, the most important factor of this game is “parameter”. Using the magic, items and equipment, adjust the parameters of each character and win each battle in front of your eyes.

PlaystationPortable.de: How long will an average player need to beat the game?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: Usually I assume 40 – 45 hours to clear.

PlaystationPortable.de: Will there be any online, multiplayer or special features which could only be realized on the PSP?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: You can enjoy the partnership play and the VS play by using the adhoc mode.
In the partnership mode, 2 players explore the same quest at a time. You can also find the rare items in this mode.
In the VS mode, players can fight with each other by using their own parties they made in the main mode. You have to choose one items and if you lost the battle, you have give it to the winner.

PlaystationPortable.de: The latest handheld developments of Tenchu were not so popular as wished. Do you have any idea what aspects of portability can be improved within the new RPG-project?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: Not only on the handheld hardware, the internet connection of the game hardware is expanding and the download charge system would be common among the users. We are very interested in and considering this new business model.

PlaystationPortable.de: Can you tell us anything about future plans concerning handheld gaming; do you have any other projects coming up for 2007?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: At the moment, we can not tell anything concretely.

PlaystationPortable.de: What are your favorite role playing games, aside from your own creations?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: If we should note, the following products are.
・Diablo
・Wizardry
・Warcraft

PlaystationPortable.de: Is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?

Mr. Mitsuo Kodama: If you had an interest in us by reading our comments, please play and enjoy our game. That’s what makes us pleased and happy.
